Regional Executive Director- Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE)
(Fairchester Region = Fairfield County, CT + Westchester County, NY)
Position- The Executive Director of NFTE Fairchester Region, working with the Advisory Board, is responsible for carrying out the organizations mission and programs by helping set goals, budgets, strategies and operational programs in the region.
NFTE Fairchester seeks a pragmatic, experienced non-profit manager with a strong commitment to educating economically disadvantaged students with a unique, internationally recognized program. The candidate must have the ability to work closely with a small staff, a large cadre of committed volunteers and classroom teachers, and an active, senior level advisory board. Leading fund raising is a significant part of the position, and the successful candidate will need to possess an established record of success in this area.
Organization- The NFTE mission is to provide programs that inspire young people from low-income communities to stay in school, to recognize business opportunities and to plan for successful futures. It does this by forming partnerships with schools, and community-based organizations, creating innovative experiential curricula, training and supporting teachers, and providing supportive alumni services. Since its founding in 1987, NFTE has reached over 350,000 students. NFTE has active programs in 21 states and 14 countries. The NFTE Fairchester Region annually serves 1,400 students in 65 classes in 23 high schools and middle schools. A high light of each program year is the annual NFTE student BizPlan competition for multi-level cash prizes and scholarships.
Responsibilities
Take the lead in growing NFTE strategically in the region by expanding the scope of services and increasing participants.
Implement nationally led strategies and practices for measuring program value and impact, and performance improvement. Build, maintain, and coordinate a large and dynamic group of active volunteers who regularly work in the classroom, currently exceeding 300 in number.
Serve as a chief liaison to an active Board comprised of senior business and government leaders from the region and guide their fundraising efforts, advocacy and community outreach.
Drive fundraising with the Board to seek individual, corporate, government and foundation funds in support of and to increase the annual budget of currently $500,000.
Qualifications
Minimum of fifteen years of senior level management experience, preferably including non-profit organizations. Bachelors degree required; a Masters degree preferred
Experience in teaching or working with educational institutions preferred
In-depth knowledge of the Westchester and Fairfield area for business, non profits, government
Proven track record in nonprofit fundraising and Board coordination
Proven ability to manage staff and build successful teamwork
Demonstrated leadership qualities and strong interpersonal skills
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Proven ability to think strategically, problem-solve and manage multiple projects
