(AP) ? So much for staying positive.

In just the last 24 hours, Republican presidential hopeful Newt Gingrich has blasted rival Mitt Romney as a "Massachusetts moderate" who isn't "man enough" to take responsibility for the harsh attack ads being run on his behalf. And he lambasted Ron Paul's views as "totally outside the mainstream of virtually every decent American."

As his lead in Iowa polls has evaporated, Gingrich's rhetoric has grown ever sharper, even as he insists ? sometimes in the same breath ? that he's running a positive campaign.

"I am not going to go negative, period," Gingrich said Tuesday at a campaign stop in Dyersville, Iowa, to appreciative murmurs from the crowd that had crammed into the National Farm Toy Museum to hear him speak. That remark came after a CNN interview in which he said he wouldn't vote for Paul if the Texas congressman became the GOP nominee and he mocked Romney for not having the courage to face him in a one-on-one debate.

It is classic Gingrich, the bomb-throwing leader of the Republican revolution who even now seems to chafe at minding his manners. He acknowledged Tuesday that it has taken "discipline" not to counterpunch as the attacks have flooded in.

So he is trying to have it both ways.

In Dubuque, Iowa, at the first stop of a 22-city bus tour leading up to Jan. 3 caucuses, Gingrich offered Romney praise, then promptly opened fire.

"I don't want to be invidious about Gov. Romney, who I said I think is a very competent manager and a very smart guy," Gingrich said. "But to have somebody who is a Massachusetts moderate, who said he did not want to go back to the Reagan-Bush years, who voted as a Democrat for Paul Tsongas in '92, who campaigned to the left of Teddy Kennedy.... to have him run a commercial that questions my conservatism?"

In the evolving Gingrich playbook, statements which are factually accurate are not attacks.

"I was describing him accurately," he said in South Carolina last week after taking a jab at Romney.

For Gingrich, taking the high road may be a strategy born as much out of necessity as ideology.

His campaign nearly collapsed earlier this year, so he trails the other Republican frontrunners in fundraising, which limits his ability to launch a sustained negative campaign.

The former Georgia congressman also seems to have made the political calculation that to win over voters, he must soften some of the brash rough edges that defined his tenure as House speaker.

After all, he made his political reputation perfecting the art of using words as weapons.

A 1996 memo to Republican House candidates, which Gingrich endorsed in a cover letter, urged Republicans running for office to use words like "traitor," ''pathetic" and "sick" to define Democratic opponents, their proposals and their party. "Language matters,'" the memo said.

Campaigning for the White House, he has taken his own advice.

A favorite Gingrich technique in recent weeks has been to extol his campaign's positive tone while eviscerating nameless GOP opponents, using words like "disgusting" and "reprehensible."

"Shame on them for not caring enough about America to be positive," he said.

He has a receptive audience in Iowa voters, weary of being bombarded with nasty robocalls, mailers and television ads as the primary hurtles into the final days.

"I'm just sick of it all," said Bette Carlson, who showed up to hear Gingrich speak at Mabe's Pizza in Decorah, Iowa, Tuesday night. "Anyone who stays out of the mud improves their chances of getting my vote."

Still, the Gingrich camp maintains it is giving the pledge more than just lip service. They note an Iowa staffer had to resign after calling Mormonism ? Romney's religion ? a cult.

And Gingrich argues he has enough cash to run a negative ad war if he wanted to. He notes his campaign made the choice to run positive ads across Iowa beginning Wednesday.

Still, Gingrich might know better than most this election cycle that negative ads work.

He has seen his support slide as the airwaves in Iowa have filled with ads reminding voters of his ethics woes, a public service announcement he shot with Democrat Nancy Pelosi and his lucrative work for Freddie Mac.

The libertarian-leaning Paul has assailed Gingrich for "serial hypocrisy," painting him as a career politician who lined his pockets after leaving office by selling access.

In an interview, Romney called him "zany."

How long can Gingrich keep up the positive fa?ade? Asked if he would he would continue the commitment in a general election against Democrat Barack Obama, Gingrich dodged the question.

"Barack Obama's record is so terrible that if you just tell the truth it sounds negative," Gingrich said

Calculated Risk: Private Investment and the Business Cycle

by CalculatedRisk on 12/26/2011 03:41:00 PM

Discussions of the business cycle frequently focus on consumer spending (PCE: Personal consumption expenditures), but one key is to watch private domestic investment. Even though private investment usually only accounts for about 15% of GDP, private investment experiences significantly larger swings than PCE during the business cycle and has an outsized impact on GDP. Note: currently private investment is just over 12% of GDP - much lower than normal.

The first graph shows the real annualized change in GDP and private investment since 1960 (this is a 3 quarter centered average to smooth the graph).

GDP and Investment real annualized changeClick on graph for larger image.

GDP has fairly small annualized changes compared to the huge swings in investment, especially during and just following a recession. This is why investment is one of the keys to the business cycle.

The second graph shows the contribution to GDP from the four categories of private investment: residential investment, equipment and software, nonresidential structures, and "Change in private inventories". Note: this is a 3 quarter centered average of the contribution to GDP.

This is important to follow because residential investment tends to lead the economy, equipment and software is generally coincident, and nonresidential structure investment lags the business cycle. Red is residential, green is equipment and software, and blue is investment in non-residential structures. The usual pattern - both into and out of recessions is - red, green, and blue.

Investment Contributions to GDP The dashed purple line is the "Change in private inventories". This category has significant ups and downs, but is always negative during a recession, and provides a boost to GDP just after a recession. Change in private inventories has made a large negative contribution to GDP over the last four quarters, and will probably make a positive contribution in Q4.

The key leading sector - residential investment - has lagged this recovery because of the huge overhang of existing inventory. Usually residential investment is a strong contributor to GDP growth and employment in the early stages of a recovery, but not this time - and that weakness is a key reason why the recovery has been sluggish so far.

Equipment and software investment has made a significant positive contribution to GDP for nine straight quarters (it is coincident).

The contribution from nonresidential investment in structures was positive in Q3. Nonresidential investment in structures typically lags the recovery; however investment in energy and power is masking weakness in office, mall and hotel investment.

And residential investment has finally turned slightly positive and will make a positive contribution to GDP in 2011 for the first time since 2005.

Residential Investment as Percent of GDPWhat does this mean for the business cycle? Usually residential investment would turn down before a recession, and that isn't happening right now. Instead residential investment is mostly moving sideways.

The third graph shows residential investment as a percent of GDP. Residential investment as a percent of GDP is at a record low, and it seems unlikely that residential investment will decline significantly lower as a percent of GDP - especially with a pickup in multifamily investment and some increase in home improvement (Note: Residential investment is mostly investment in new single family and multifamily structures, home improvement and brokers' commissions). It seems likely that residential investment will make a positive contribution to GDP in 2012.

Non-Residential Investment as Percent of GDPThe last graph shows non-residential investment in structures and equipment and software.

Equipment and software investment has increased sharply, but is still at a fairly normal level of GDP. And non-residential investment in structures increased in Q3, but this is still very low.

A key fear is that the financial crisis in Europe could drag the US economy into another recession. That is possible, especially combined with ongoing household deleveraging and fiscal tightening in the US (with current policy, Federal, state and local governments will all subtract from GDP growth in 2012).

However it seems unlikely there will be a sharp decline in private investment. Residential investment is already at record lows as a percent of GDP and will probably increase in 2012. Changes in private inventories will probably rebound a little, and investment in non-residential structures is also near record lows. It is possible that investment in equipment and software could decline in 2012, but it doesn't seem likely there will be a sharp decline in overall private investment.

If the euro zone comes apart rapidly - or there is further non-private tightening - a new recession is possible in the US, but without a sharp decline in private investment, it is unlikely a US recession would be severe. Right now it appears overall US private investment will increase in 2012, and that the US will avoid a new recession.

Seeking to Circumvent Possible U.S. Trade Sanctions, China Buys Hawaiian Solar Compan

Seeking to Circumvent Possible U.S. Trade Sanctions, China Buys Hawaiian Solar Compan

Chinese investment in the U.S. economy up to now has been primarily in the form of U.S. Treasury bills.

But, reading the U.S. press and conservative calls for punitive trade tariffs against China, Beijing?s investors have taken a leaf out of Tokyo?s 40 year-old playbook, when similar concerns were raised about Japanese imports. Four decades ago Japan cannily began not only to establish factories in the U.S. for its major U.S. exports, primarily automobiles, but began a cautious policy of investing in struggling U.S. companies, so if and when Congress got more xenophobic Japanese manufacturers could point out that trade barriers would harm American workers as well as Japanese ones.

The net result on punishing Japan with restrictive tariffs quickly became the daunting possibility of throwing U.S. workers into unemployment, then, as now, the third rail of American politics, and what Congressman want to be seen as increasing unemployment?

The above scenario is behind the recent acquisition by Tianwei New Energy Holdings Co., Ltd. (Tianwei) of Hawaii?s troubled Hoku Corporation, a solar energy product company, a leading provider of silicon wafers, photovoltaic (PV) cells, modules and systems.

Last month Tainwei announced the signing of a definitive reseller agreement establishing Tianwei Solar USA, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of, as the primary distributor of Tianwei New Energy's PV modules to the North American market.

On 1 December Tianwei started its polysilicon production via Hoku Corp. with an annual capacity of 2,500 tons. Last year China?s National Development and Reform Commission approved Tianwei purchasing 60 percent of Hoku Corp.?s outstanding shares.

According to Hoku Corp., ?During the three months ended September 30, 2011 Hoku Materials incurred an operating loss of $7.6 million,? as even as of ?September 30, 2011, Hoku Materials has capitalized $575.6 million related to construction costs for the Polysilicon Plant and had received $140 million in customer deposits as prepayments under long-term polysilicon supply agreements.?

Can you say cash flow problems?
Under the terms of the agreement, Hoku's newly formed subsidiary will market, distribute and sell Tianwei New Energy's full range of UL-listed PV modules in North America. Hoku established offices in Southern California for Tianwei Solar USA, Inc and will initially focus on developing key sales channels within the commercial and residential segments of the distributed generation solar market. Tianwei New Energy already has an established customer base in Europe, in 2010 delivering more than 200 megawatts of PV modules.

Spinning the news, Hoku Corp. CEO Scott Paul said, "We are extremely pleased to continue strengthening our relationship with Tianwei. This new PV products division represents the first of several steps forward in our continued expansion of Hoku's global market presence. It will provide a strong complement to our existing solar projects business, and we look forward to supplying Tianwei New Energy's modules to project developers, PV integrators and utility customers throughout North America."

Reciprocating the back rub, Tianwei general manager and now Hoku Corp. director Zhengfei Gao purred, "We recognize Hoku Solar's PV integration expertise, brand strength and market presence in the U.S. North America is an important, growing market in the solar industry, and Tianwei is very pleased to have Hoku leadership in our strategic North American expansion."

So, what has China bought?

Hoku Corp. consists of three business units: Hoku Materials, Hoku Solar, and Tianwei Solar USA, Inc., manufacturing polysilicon for the solar market from its plant currently under construction in Pocatello, Idaho and now Hoku Solar markets and sells PV modules manufactured by Tianwei New Energy.

And the future looks sunny. Tianwei chairman Ding Qiang said that Tianwei signed a distribution agreement with Hoku Corp. to be its distributor for its sales of modules not only in the U.S., but Canada and South American regions as well.

And Tainwei is already garnering allies. On 21 December, according to Ding, the U.S.-based Coalition for Affordable Solar Energy wrote to Hoku competitor solar-panel maker SolarWorld asking it withdraw its petition asking the American government to impose heavy tariffs on Chinese solar energy products for unfair trading practices, commenting, "By asking government to interfere and artificially increase the price will only hinder the deployment, cost thousands of jobs, reduce our energy security, and further negatively impact an already shaky economy."

Two months ago SolarWorld Industries America, an Oregon company, and six other undisclosed partners filed an appeal to the U.S. Department of Commerce (DOC) alleging unfair Chinese business practices and the DOC replied in November that it would conduct an investigation to determine whether Chinese firms have been selling solar panels in the United States at unfair discounts and receiving illegal government subsidies and a ruling earlier this month by the International Trade Commission concluded that U.S. solar companies were being harmed by Chinese solar imports.

Interestingly, SolarWorld Industries America, the largest U.S. solar manufacturer, is now owned by a German company
Many energy analysts have commented that acquisitions of American companies provide a way for Chinese solar energy companies to avoid U.S. trade barriers.

Well, duh!

The question remains ? where were U.S. investors when Hoku Corp. was struggling?

It's not a flying fish, it's a submarine-launched UAV

VTOL may be old news already, but here's another great USP for any UAV: the ability to launch from a submerged submarine. The technology is still in development, but the Navy wants to try it from periscope depth during exercises in the Pacific Ocean next year. If all goes to plan, a Switchblade folding-wing drone will be ejected from the submarine's trash disposal unit and then carried to the surface by an SLV ('submerged launch vehicle'), which will keep it dry, point it into the wind and then hurl it heavenwards so it can go a-snooping. Whether the experiment succeeds or fails, we've glimpsed a worrying possibility: submarines are capable of dumping their trash right into the ocean. Until now, we sort of assumed they took it home with them.

Figure Skating: Asada to lead Japan at world championships

TOKYO: Two-time world champion Mao Asada will spearhead the Japanese team at the world figure skating championships in France next year, the Japan Skating Federation announced on Sunday.

The 21-year-old Asada claimed her first women's singles title in two years and fifth in her career at Japan's national championships Sunday, which serve as trials for the world championships in Nice from March 26 to April 1, 2012.

Also joining Asada in the team are Grand Prix Final silver medallist Akiko Suzuki, who also won silver on Sunday and bronze medallist Kanako Murakami.

Men's winner on Saturday Daisuke Takahashi has been named for the men's team, along with Takahiko Kozuka and Yuzuru Hanyu.

"I was disappointed that I failed to land a triple loop, but I'm happy that I was able to finish the year by winning the title. I was in a difficult condition, but I was able to perform my usual free skating," said Asada.

Asada pulled out of the Grand Prix Final in Quebec earlier this month to be with her mother, Kyoko, whose health had deteriorated. Kyoko died before Mao arrived at the hospital.

Martino rejects offer to coach Colombia -- again

BOGOTA, Colombia (AP) -- Former Paraguay coach Gerardo Martino has turned down the chance to take charge of Colombia - the second offer he's refused in four months.

Colombian football federation president Luis Bedoya says Martino, who is from Argentina, decided to accept an offer to coach Argentine club Newell's Old Boys instead. Bedoya says the federation will "continue looking for a coach with international experience.''

Martino took Paraguay to the quarterfinals of the 2010 World Cup and final of the Copa America in July. He turned down an initial offer to coach Colombia in August.

After Martino's rejection, Colombia turned to former player Leonel Alvarez, who oversaw three World Cup qualifying matches before being dismissed earlier this month.

Illinois RB Jason Ford ineligible for bowl

Posted by?Jerry HinnenCoachless 6-7?UCLA and coachless 6-6?Illinois's matchup in the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl has been panned as one of the least intriguing of the bowl season from the day it was announced, and the Bruins haven't seemed particularly interested in the game themselves, skipping out on practice and having four players miss the game through academic and team rules issues. But just to prove they can match their opponent step-for-step in indifference as well as lack of regular season wins, the Illini have now also announced a major absence from the game.

The player in question is leading rusher Jason Ford, who the Illini have confirmed will be?academically ineligible for the bowl and will not make the trip to San Francisco. The announcement ends the career of Ford, a senior with 1,962 rushing yards.

Reserve wide receiver Jake Kumerow?will also miss the game through academics.?

Ford appeared in at least 12 games all four years of his Illini career but had to wait to wait until the 2011 season for a chance as the featured back thanks to Mikel LeShoure. While Ford's total of 600 yards and 7 touchdowns led the Illini in both categories this year, an expected breakout season failed to materialize as Ford reached the 100-yard mark just one time (vs. Penn State) and averaged just 3.9 yards per-carry. His 26 career rushing touchdowns do place him second on the Illinois all-time list in that category.

Ford will likely be replaced by fellow senior Troy Pollard, who totaled 462 yards this season but on only 62 carries, a 7.5 yard average.

Vikings vs. Redskins: Finishing Season on High Note Is Important for Washington

Although it?s insane to even think that?the Redskins have a shot at matching their win total from just a year ago, it's in fact true. And technically, the Redskins can exceed last year's total if they can pull out both wins against Minnesota and Philadelphia.

The playoffs, however, have been out of the question since about Week 8.

But being eliminated from playoff contention with two games remaining on the schedule doesn?t necessarily call for this season to be thrown to the wayside. In fact, the remaining two games will be very telling for the Redskins, the coaches and the future of this team.

In Mike Shanahan?s first year as head coach of the Redskins last season, the team went 6-10 under intense culture and scheme changes. The coaches were weeding through the inherited crap, dealing with their own bad acquisition and attempting to emulate the Redskins? glory days of yesteryear (like, two decades ago actually).

At this point, the Redskins? odds are stacked against them in terms of exceeding last year?s win total. And digression, whether measured in wins or not, never makes for a comfortable coaching seat.

The Redskins remaining schedule of Minnesota and Philadelphia will be Shanahan?s greatest test of the season to show that his coaching remains a valuable asset in the NFL and to the Washington Redskins.

Although they may be favored at home against Minnesota on Christmas Eve, the Redskins should be underdogs in Philadelphia for the season finale. Injuries have plagued the team all year, the quarterback situation has been arguably the league?s worst and the latest season-ending suspensions handed down to leading receiver Fred Davis and starting left tackle Trent Williams make for serious bumps in the road.

How Confident Are You In Mike Shanahan?

How Confident Are You In Mike Shanahan?

  • 8-10 Confident

  • 5-7 I'm in the middle

  • 2-4 I think we need to change

  • 0-2 Never have, never will

But let?s forget about wins and losses for a moment and come to the realization that our preseason hopes as Redskins fans were once again unsurprisingly shot down. Instead, let?s focus on what Shanahan does with this team to close out a season that most would refer to as a total loss and/or complete waste.

If Shanahan somehow finds a way to match last year?s win total and doesn?t technically digress, are people still calling for his head?

Probably so. But judge fairly. I understand that injuries are a part of the game and that suspensions can happen to the best of players, but it still has to be taken into account.

An offensive line that has seen seven different alignments this season shouldn?t go un-noted. Even though Shanahan may have done it to himself, Rex Grossman being your team?s best option at quarterback has to be marked with an asterisk. And most of all, it?s important to recognize that this is only the second year of a supposed five-year plan.

I know it sounds like I?m making excuses, like I have a personal love interest in Mike Shanahan. But I?ll promise you that?s not the case.?Matthew McConaughey? Sure. But not Mike Shanahan.?

All I?m preaching is that consistency is important. That the final product of this season over the team?s last two games, whether they be wins or losses, are imperative to the job that Shanahan is doing in Washington.

We must all keep in mind that serious draft potential hangs in the balance for the Redskins, in which case, losing the remaining two games could be more beneficial. But, the draft can only be dissected following season's end.?

This season may be lost in the sense that we?ll be watching the playoffs from the same place as teams like the Indianapolis Colts, Jacksonville Jaguars and St. Louis Rams. But this season is an important piece of the puzzle for Shanahan and the Redskins? future. And this season isn?t over yet.

OPEC to accommodate increased Libyan output (AP)

CAIRO ? There is a "gentlemen's agreement" between OPEC members to accommodate increasing output from Libya, the North African country's oil minister said Saturday.

The comments by Abdul-Rahman bin Yazzah indicate that while there is no formal deal among members of the 12-nation Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries to cut output, the producer group is willing to take the step as Libya's production ramps up to pre-civil war levels of 1.6 million barrels per day.

"If the situation calls for it, they will meet," bin Yazzah said, adding that the decision is dictated by supply and demand. But "there is a gentlemen's agreement to accommodate Libya's production," he told reporters after a meeting of the Organization of Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries, or OAPEC, in Cairo on Saturday.

OPEC agreed Dec. 14 to raise its production ceiling to about 30 million barrels per day. The decision marked an increase from its earlier output target and was the first time it changed the ceiling in three years.

The producer bloc has grappled for years with noncompliance by member with their allotted quotas. The situation became further muddled over the past year as Libya's civil war ground production from that nation to a near standstill. To offset the drop, other OPEC members, most notably Saudi Arabia, stepped with additional barrels.

Libya is currently producing slightly more than 1 million barrels per day, the chairman of the National Oil Corp. Nouri Berruien said. The country expects to return to full production by mid -2012, he said ? much quicker than analysts had anticipated.

Aside from accommodating increased oil from Libya and Iraq, OPEC must also deal with an economic crunch in Europe where sovereign debt worries are squeezing growth forecasts and, in turn, dampening demand for oil.

If OPEC overproduced, or fails to curb its members' production to adjust for Libya's return to the market it could see prices fall below the $100 per barrel level favored by price hawks like Iran and Venezuela. Others like bloc kingpin Saudi Arabia favor prices between $80-85 per barrel.

The US benchmark crude futures contract on Friday settled at $99.68 per barrel in New York, while it's North Sea counterpart, Brent, settled at $107.96 a barrel in London.

Separately, Syria's oil minister said that international sanction had affected oil production in the country.

Sufian Allaw said that production was down by about 35 percent, reaching 255,000 barrels per day. Allaw said Syria was no longer exporting crude and that European oil companies like Shell and Total had halted their operations in the country because of EU sanctions.

"We have no ability to export now" because of the sanctions, he said.

The measures were imposed as Syria's government comes under tremendous criticism for its deadly approach to dealing with protesters demanding the end of President Bashar Assad's regime. The United Nations says more than 5,000 people have been killed since March, when the uprising began and the regime responded by deploying tanks and troops to crush protests across Syria.

Allaw said that current oil production effectively covered domestic refining capacity and that Syria still needed to import refined fuels.

CARACAS, Venezuela ? A Venezuelan opposition politician who has prostate cancer has been freed after four years in prison.

A court granted parole to Jose Sanchez Montiel for humanitarian reasons because of his advanced prostate cancer, defense lawyer Theresly Malave told the Venezuelan television channel Globovision on Saturday.

Sanchez was sentenced last year to 19 years in prison after being convicted of complicity in the killing of a military intelligence official in 2007. Sanchez was elected to the National Assembly last year while in jail awaiting sentencing. He maintains he is innocent.

Some opposition politicians have described him as a political prisoner. Sanchez is one of four jailed opponents of President Hugo Chavez who have been paroled this year due to health problems.

Chavez and government officials deny there are any political prisoners in the country, saying that Sanchez and others have committed crimes.

The president earlier this year urged judicial authorities to consider parole for any prisoners with serious health problems. Chavez made those remarks after he had a cancerous tumor removed from his pelvic region in an operation in June. He has since undergone chemotherapy and says tests show he is cancer-free.

Sanchez was charged with being an accomplice to the killing of military intelligence agent Claudio Macias, who was found dead in a jail in the western city of Maracaibo in 2007.

Sanchez at the time was a security official for the state government in western Zulia state. Some opposition politicians have said they believe Sanchez was targeted for arrest because he was a close ally of former Zulia Gov. Manuel Rosales, a former presidential candidate who fled to Peru in 2009 after prosecutors accused him of corruption. Rosales has denied wrongdoing.

Malave said that Sanchez was barred by the court from speaking to the news media about his case.

Sanchez traveled to Maracaibo on Saturday to spend Christmas with his family, and plans to begin cancer treatment soon, Malave said.

Judicial authorities did not comment publicly on Sanchez's release.

John Henderson, 7-Year-Old Davis Boy, Dies From Ski Lift Fall (VIDEO)

On Tuesday, a 7-year-old Davis boy who fell 60 feet from a Sugar Bowl ski resort chair lift on Sunday died from his injuries.

The Reno Gazette reported that John Henderson was rushed to the emergency room at Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno via air ambulance after falling from the lift. He was an avid member of the resort's ski team and was wearing a helmet at the time of the fall, according to friends and teammates.

"He was an excellent skier, and he loved the sport tremendously, said Sugar Bowl ski team Executive Director Bill Hudson to the Davis Enterprise. "[He] loved being on the mountain.

According to the Davis Enterprise, the fall occurred over an area of exposed rock. Jim Powell, a Davis skier who was chaperoning a Davis High School ski team field trip, passed over the site of Henderson's fall moments later and told said it "did not look good."

"An adult would not have survived that fall," said Powell. Investigators are looking into the incident.

Because of light snowfall this year, the snow pack is harder and more icy than usual, but ski patrol member James Margolis told the Reno Gazette that a fall from 60 feet is "lethal, whether it's in good conditions or bad."

According to The Union, Sugar Bowl extended a press releases expressing thoughts and prayers for Henderson and his family.

"It is with great sadness that we report the boy passed away," said Donner Summit Director of Sales and Marketing John Monson in the release. "The entire Sugar Bowl community extends our heartfelt thoughts and prayers, love and support to the boy's family."
