The Hilb Group, a property-casualty agency with an office in Simsbury, recently acquired Venture Specialty Insurance of Richmond, Va.
Venture Specialty Insurance provides coverage to taxis, ambulances, limousines and also provides general property-casualty services. Venture Specialty Insurance employs about 10 people. The Hilb Group includes nearly 50 employees, including Jonathan A. Helitzer, managing director in Simsbury. Helitzer worked in property-casualty for about 20 years before joining The Hilb Group when it was formed in 2009. Venture Specialty writes insurance policies in a number of states, but does not employ anyone in Connecticut.
