Sports MEC lauds Cosmos-Benfica initiative

The Gauteng MEC for Sports and Recreation, Lebohang Maile, has hailed Jomo Sono for his vision and foresight in the area of youth soccer development.
Maile points out that?the Jomo-Benfica Soccer Schools project?will not only benefit Jomo Cosmos and Benfica, but also kids in school who desire to be integrated into such developmental structures.
Maile, who was one of the dignitaries that graced the announcement of the project in Johannesburg on Friday, maintains that Sono will always be a role model for the youth of South Africa, particularly in the area of football.
He says: ?Jomo has never allowed setbacks to define who he is, and his latest initiative is a testimony to that fact.?
Maile further gave kudos to Jomo Cosmos for focusing on youth development and promised that the Gauteng Provincial Government will try to invest its resources on facilities to aid the development of soccer and other sporting codes in the province.
